FAQ's

How do I know if I need a consultation or a room redesign?
The service that’s right for you depends upon your decorating projects. If you need advice on things like paint colors, overall color scheme, or a decorating plan to begin buying furniture for an empty room or updated/additional accessories, then you’ll want to start with a consultation.

If your question is more "how do I pull these rooms together and make our home feel finished so we can enjoy living here," then you need to have your rooms redesigned. If you go right ahead and begin with this step, there is a mini-consultation at the start for a quick home tour so we can see what you want us to work with; this is where you give us any lifestyle input and decorating requests. At the end you will get as full of a consultation as you would like to go over all the remaining questions you have and the additional ideas we have for you on a creating a shopping list for finishing touches.

Will I lose my own style?
Never! Your furniture and accessories, whether traditional, modern, country or eclectic, will give the room its own flavor based on the ingredients you've collected. We just blend it altogether, better than you ever thought possible.

How far ahead should I schedule my appointment?
Once you decide you want to make some decorating changes, you usually are eager to get started. The best way to
facilitate that is to call as soon as you’ve made your decision as it can take several weeks for your appointment.

I don't live in Southern California - how can you help me?
We can help you through our Toll Free Interior Redesign Services. Click here to learn more.

Will redesign break my budget?
Not at all! Most of our clients feel that we saved them money since we help you avoid the pricey "what was I thinking of" mistakes (such as the poison ivy floral sofa or the way-too-red window coverings that looked so dynamic in the store). We're as affordable as a slipcover!

What If I have too little or too much furniture or my furniture is too ordinary?
If you have too little, redesigning will maximize things for the present time. We'll also provide a plan for working on the rest of the room over time. If you have too much, we start all over with each room, so that only the things that work the best return to the room. Finally, you know what to keep! If you think your furniture is too ordinary, you're wrong! What you have are basic elements. It's amazing how much style can be added with the clever use of acccessories, interesting furniture placement, and by using your lighting to add accents and atmosphere.

How much time does it take to do an average sized living room, dining room and maybe entry?
The best way to answer that is to tell you a little about the process of ‘spinning a room’ to achieve your desired look. First, we start all over with each room by emptying it. Then, piece-by-piece, we create your new room out of everything you have for us to work with. We’ve learned that starting with a "blank canvas" allows us the best results because we aren’t influenced by the existing look of the room. It allows us to see it with new eyes so we can draw the very best out of your pieces and turn them into that wonderful home you’ve been dreaming of.

Second, we’ll need time to discuss the room with you both before and after your redesign: before - so we can go over your lifestyle needs and decorating wish list and afterwards - to go over your shopping list for finishing touches and to answer any questions.

An average sized living room, dining room and the entry with consultation time will take four hours. We’ve redesigned 700+ rooms, so we bring along lots of decorating techniques and tools that allow us to quickly and professionally redesign your room.

If I have you come for a consultation instead of a hands-on redesign, can you tell me where everything should go so I could do it myself later?
You’d think so, wouldn’t you? But experience has taught us that beforehand, it’s nearly impossible to know exactly the best place for everything in the room just by looking at it. Instead, we discover the best locations by trying various options. For instance, in most living rooms, there are at least three positions we could give to a full-sized sofa. Sometimes it gets down to inches and degrees of angles on which position looks the best. Now, based on where that would go, everything else would play off it… the other seating, tables, piano, curio cabinet, bookcases, lamps, plants and pictures. So, the nature of the actual placement just needs to be hands-on.
